Terms of Service

Last updated October 9, 2026

These terms explain how the CheckLate website and initial review work. CheckLate provides the platform licensed to the law practice. The law practice identified in your written service agreement provides any legal services you purchase.

The website and free review

CheckLate helps people request a review of a California final paycheck claim. Submitting the intake form is free and does not purchase a package or authorize contact with your employer.

We use your answers to review your request and contact you. A review may require more information or a conflict check. Not every request will be accepted.

Legal services

Submitting the form does not, by itself, create an attorney and client relationship or mean that a lawyer has accepted your case. Before paid work begins, the responsible attorney, scope of work, fee and any other conditions will be identified in a written agreement.

Any duties owed to a prospective client under applicable law remain in place. These website terms do not waive those protections.

The packages

With Demand Plus, you file the small claims forms, arrange service and appear in court yourself. The package does not include court filing fees, service costs or representation at your hearing. Preparing forms does not file a case or serve the employer.

The written service agreement will confirm the work included, what information is needed, timing, payment, cancellation and any refund terms. It controls if it differs from a general description on the website. We do not collect payment through the intake form.

Claims and outcomes

Examples on the website are illustrations, not a prediction of what you will recover. Eligibility and amounts depend on the facts, applicable law, available evidence and the employer’s response. No payment, settlement, recovery amount or outcome is guaranteed.

Submitting an intake does not file a claim, stop a deadline or mean a lawyer is monitoring a deadline for you. Responsibility for deadlines must be expressly addressed in a service agreement.

Your information

Provide information that is accurate to the best of your knowledge. Estimates and uncertainty can be identified in the form. Please do not submit Social Security numbers, bank account details or other sensitive identifiers through the initial intake.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle the information we receive.

Use of the website

Use the website for lawful requests. Do not impersonate another person, submit fraudulent claims, interfere with the website or attempt to access information you are not authorized to access.

Updates and contact

We may update these website terms by posting a revised version and updating the date above. Changes do not replace an existing signed service agreement.
